At Purple Dove Care Services, we provide expert support for individuals navigating mental health challenges through the NDIS. Not all mental health conditions are eligible for NDIS support, but those that result in a psychosocial disability may qualify. A psychosocial disability is defined as a severe and enduring mental health condition that significantly impairs a person’s ability to manage everyday activities, requiring ongoing support.
To be eligible for NDIS support for a mental health condition, you must demonstrate the following:
It’s important to note the distinction in language between mental health and disability. Individuals with a mental illness may not typically view themselves as having a “disability.” However, under the NDIS, the term “psychosocial disability” is used to describe the functional impact of severe mental health conditions.
This is not an exhaustive list, and other conditions may also qualify for NDIS support.
